in 1911, kirby muxloe castle handed on office of works. in care of english heritage. in 1941, during world war ii, village heavily bombed. german bomber returning attack on coventry emptied load on 2 streets, destroying free church , several houses. gaps left in houses can still seen.


the town has primary school rated 1 of top schools in county. there chemist, bakery, supermarket, 2 pubs, popular sports , social club , golf club.


many people lived there during late 20th century born in either small maternity home in station road, near barwell road or roundhill maternity home (nhs) in hastings road, kirby fields. both private residences, before became maternity homes. nurses home @ entrance roundhill private residence.
