features

pmb follows rules of library science. software provides 4 essential features :



the library management,
the watch , documentary products,
the publication of editorial content
the electronic document management.

it provides integrated portal of news , management of web 2.0 content , ils doesn t use third-party cms management of portal.


it multilingual (100% english & french, 80% spanish , italian) , supports arabic (translation , utf8 support) since 3.0.5 version of november 2006. latest 4.2 version of july 2015 includes watch unit (watch&share) , allows geo-referencing of collections , several other improvements software.


size

the software used collections around 500 000 records. tests done 2 million records show capacity manage bigger collections. regularly installed in public libraries networks of 10 15 sites.


interoperability

pmb allows use z39.50 protocol (in order import bibliographic records can directly integrated in database different servers). manages unimarc cataloguing format , iso 2709 record exchange format. includes xml data format. pmb oai server , client. user s database can connected ldap directory or other base of users reachable web services. has api allowing integrate existing information system. integration of pmb virtual learning environment (vle) functional in many french academies.


units/modules

pmb divided in 2 modules: management module , portal module (or opac). management module includes specific functions librarian: circulation (loan/return), catalogue, authorities, editions, sdi (selective dissemination of information , watch module watch&share), acquisitions, cms , administration. pmb comes user request management feature since 2009. can, moreover, completed preset addition of extensions module. @ start, software providing specialized user interface on catalogue : opac. improvement software in 2012 added cms feature offering ability make highly customizable portals.
