2012 election

republican mark hutchison won election slim majority of votes.


during 2012 general election, voters choose between republican mark hutchison , democrat benny yerushalmi. democrats, primary held since both benny yerushalmi , thomas welsh filed office. yerushalmi, ran nevada senate 2 years earlier, lost, wanted diversify economy, wouldn t dependent on tourism , gaming. moreover, wanted adjust education system in order accommodate diversified economy. opponent, welsh, had tried become assemblyman before, lost election in late 1990s. welsh said participated because didn t way things going in senate, condemning lack of communication between politicians. furthermore, wanted change education system, , wanted avoid foreclosures on homeowners. primary, held on june 12, won yerushalmi, received on 55% of votes.
