djekanovic played 2 seasons of college soccer university of british columbia, whom won cis national championships in 2005. @ same time played vancouver whitecaps fc, whom won usl first division championship in 2006.

on 2 june 2007, djekanovic made first ever mls start in goal in match versus colorado rapids. recorded first victory toronto fc won 2–1, , earned first clean sheet on 17 june 2007 in 4–0 toronto fc win on fc dallas. toronto fc finished 2007 season team record 6–17–7, while team record djekanovic starting 2–3–2, 1.28 goals against average, both far being team best. djekanovic played in 10 reserve team games during 2007 season while toronto fc, not allowing goal in last 6 games played reserves.

following 2007 mls season, returned ubc , backstopped them yet national championship. on 28 february 2008, djekanovic signed former team, vancouver whitecaps fc. on 13 august 2008, djekanovic released whitecaps. after leaving whitecaps, djekanovic had been linked move houston dynamo of mls.

in 2013, djekanovic taught toc @ alderson elementary (coquitlam, bc). taught briefly @ ridgeview elementary (west vancouver, bc), , @ pinetree way elementary toc , part-time teacher.
