as member of governor s foot guard, boardman rose rank of major. in 1864, member of common council of new haven city. trustee of trinity college 1832 until 1871 , acted president of both gas light company of new haven , new haven water company. member of episcopal church , held offices among were: warden , vestryman of trinity church on green, new haven; trustee of general, theological seminary of protestant episcopal church; trustee of cheshire academy; president of board of bishops fund. founder , vice president of general hospital society of new haven (now called yale new haven hospital). on july 28, 1857, married lucy hall of poland, ohio. , wife had no children.
