the ipatiev house, built in 1880s, spacious , modern residence owned nicholas ipatiev. ural soviet gave him 2 days notice leave. once building vacated, soviet built high wooden walls around house. first arrive among romanovs nicholas, alexandra feodorovna , daughter maria. later, joined olga, tatiana, anastasia , alexei. romanovs held prisoner in final residence 78 days. in 1974, mansion designated national monument ; 3 years later on september 22, 1977, team, under orders soviet government , direction of boris yeltsin, demolished house.
