in october 2003, bidognetti , son aniello indicted murder of doctor gennaro falco in town of parete. 2 weeks later, casalesi clan members sebastiano caterino , umberto de falco murdered. in june 2008, bidognetti, schiavone , 14 other casalesi bosses sentenced life imprisonment in spartacus maxi-trial. michele zagaria , antonio iovine, 2 other casalesi bosses, got same sentence , arrested on 7 december 2011 , 17 november 2010 respectively.


the 10-year legal trial, named such in recognition of need fight revolution in casalesi s territory, charged 36 members of clan string of murders , other crimes. found guilty , 16 sentenced life imprisonment. more 500 witnesses testified in trial saw heaviest penalties ever organised crime total of 700 years of imprisonment. on course of initial trial , appeal, 5 people involved in case murdered, including interpreter. judge , 2 journalists threatened death.


in march 2008, through lawyers in courtroom, francesco bidognetti accused prosecutor of dda, antonio cantone of being unduly influenced pentiti , anti-mafia journalists, rosaria capacchione, of newspaper il mattino , , roberto saviano, author of best-selling book gommora, deals criminal activities of casalesi clan. lawyer further demanded transfer of trials of bidognetti , fellow fugitive casalesi boss, antonio iovine rome legitimate suspiscions .


backlash against collaborating relatives

on may 2, 2008, bidognetti s uncle, umberto murdered @ castel volturno, due son domenico s collaboration police. had refused police protection after son s repentance. in following month, group of hitmen disguised police officers wounded anna carrino, niece of anna carrino, in villaricca. shot in stomach when opened door. carrino s testimony led arrest of several of henchmen. however, police believe real target of attack may have been woman’s mother, anna carrino’s sister. these incidents believed part of murder strategy of iovine , zagaria, in order dissuade wish collaborate law enforcement.


bidognetti s son, gianluca, arrested on november 21, 2008 , charged attempted murder of anna carrino s niece.
