software packs optional extras. software available psion plc or third parties, such purple software, psionpages or widget uk. in later years software became available via download. software memory unit slots either of 2 bays - there 1 bay hidden swivel locking door @ each end of psion series 3 models.


the spell software pack models did not have spell checking facility pre-loaded.



memory modules

ram & flash: both sides shown


the older ram needed button cell keep data stable in memory. 1 button cell fitted each module.


the later memory modules, flash , flash ii, did not need battery , cheaper each capacity (both versions continued being manufactured).


the flash modules did have limitation of needing re-formatted entirely reclaim space deleted or modified files; old versions of files deleted or modified continued take space until module formatted. made ram modules more desirable use data stored changed frequently, every change flash module meant writing new version of file remaining space.
