the original 1977 plan called 6 boats, 2 tr-1700s built in germany thyssen nordseewerke, 2 in argentina astillero domecq garcia, , 2 smaller tr-1400s built in argentina. final agreement in 1982 modified 6 tr 1700s, last 4 built in argentina. tr-1700s built in argentina considered upgrade nuclear submarine using invap s carem reactor, began development @ time. nuclear submarine project never came fruition, despite later attempts revive it.
