both species cespitose (the fronds arising central point clump rather along rhizome). deciduous fronds light yellow-green, 20–90 centimetres (7.9–35.4 in) long , 5–25 cm (2.0–9.8 in) broad. sori appear dots on underside of frond, 1–6 per pinnule. covered prominently whitish brown reniform (kidney-shaped) indusium. fronds dissected, being 3-pinnate. stipe may bear long, pale brown, papery scales @ base. spores yellow on a. angustum , dark brown on a. asplenioides.
