at 51st grammy awards held in february 2009, duffy won grammy award in category of best pop vocal album rockferry. earlier had been nominated awards in categories of best new artist , best female pop vocal performance single mercy . duffy equalled coldplay 4 2009 brit awards nominations. won 3 awards, including best album rockferry, 1 behind record held blur won in 1 night. cannot tell means after 5 years of hard work, duffy said. @ awards ceremony performed warwick avenue . record producers & songwriters steve booker & bernard butler gained awards work on rockferry album. shared 2009 ivor novello award in category performed work steve booker work on mercy. songwriter eg white won award songwriter of year in part warwick avenue, co-wrote duffy. mercy played on united states radio , television more 3 million times earning duffy 2009 broadcast music incorporated award. album nominated , shortlisted album of 30 years category @ 2010 brit awards.


the album s success led period of confusion role in music business led quit music. duffy has said did not mind people illegally downloading music because believes people kids cannot afford cds , buy them when older. duffy recorded cover of paul mccartney , wings song live , let die . used on war child charity album titled war child heroes, volume i. acclaim came paul mccartney, saying duffy s version great – impressed . duffy , bernard butler wrote song smoke without fire , appeared on soundtrack film education.


duffy s second album required slow career. in late january 2010 rough trade management, jeanette lee had managed duffy, announced , singer had parted amicably. duffy s new management stated professional relationship between duffy , rough trade management has run course. a&m/universal.


on 16 september 2010 duffy announced release of second album, endlessly. album recorded in new york, london , spain in year prior announcement. duffy formed songwriting partnership albert hammond record. endlessly released in united kingdom on 29 november 2010 , placed @ number 9 in album charts of 5 december. album s first single failed achieve success of previous singles, entering uk charts @ number 41 on 21 november. called well, well, , single features rhythm section united states hip hop group roots.
