a marble bust of sir george, weekes, stands in westminster abbey. large monument built in memory of sir george cornewall lewis in small village of new radnor, powys after died , still stands today, statue in front of shirehall in hereford. lewis s large circle of friends included sir e. head, grotes, austins, lord stanhope, john stuart mill, dean milman, , duff gordons. in public life described lord aberdeen notable candour, moderation, love of truth . according geoffrey madan, although invited queen victoria each year stay @ balmoral, never accepted. historian j. p. parry argued had lewis lived , not william ewart gladstone might have come lead liberal party
