the construction of mall broke ground in 2002 , opened in october 2004. mall has 5 levels above ground retail use , 3 levels of basement parking space. has total floor area of 100,000 m (1,100,000 sq ft) , connected smart araneta coliseum walkway. mall hosts 10-cinema cineplex includes 500-seater cinema 5 , platinum cinema touted mall owners first la-z-boy theater in philippines.

the gateway mall 2 expansion project of gateway mall. expansion of mall scheduled commence within 2016 or 2017. built @ west side of smart araneta coliseum adjacent planned ibis hotel branch,and have designated roof deck activity area, chapel, cineplex, , island restaurant-food court. of august 2017, gateway 2 under construction.
