raymond g sunderland started learning organ @ age 12 , until 16 studied father, organist of broadstone baptist church, yorkshire.


during second world war served in royal armoured corps , in 1944-45, whilst serving in belgium, gave series of organ recitals memory in ypres cathedral. after war, studied shackleton pollard @ halifax parish church , served there assistant organist. in 1951 gained frco , appointed organist , choirmaster @ burnley parish church in lancashire; whilst there became organist halifax choral society. in 1955 moved st. edmunds church, roundhay, leeds, before being appointed in 1957 final post organist , master of choristers @ bridlington priory church. raymond sunderland s abilities performer, , not least improviser of immense talent, acclaimed.


raymond sunderland died in hours of christmas morning 1977 in bridlington priory having played organ midnight communion; buried in priory churchyard.
