the md explorer features notar anti-torque system, benefits including increased safety, far lower noise levels , performance , controllability enhancements. instead of anti-torque tail rotor, fan exhaust directed out of slots in tail boom, using coandă effect yaw control. boeing retains design rights notar technology despite selling former mcdonnell douglas civil helicopter line md helicopters in 1999. explorer features bearingless 5 blade main rotor composite blades, plus carbonfibre construction tail , fuselage.
