signings

the jets used large amount of salary cap room make several high-profile acquisitions in offseason. on february 29 team signed former pittsburgh steelers left guard, alan faneca, five-year, $40 million contract. deal made faneca highest paid offensive lineman in national football league. jets signed former arizona cardinals linebacker, calvin pace, six-year, $42 million deal. pace had 6 ½ sacks in 2007, , considered fit jets 3–4 defense. jets continued attempt improve offensive line signing detroit lions right tackle damien woody five-year $25.5 million contract.


other notable free agent signings included fullback, tony richardson; cornerbacks, andre woolfolk , ty law; tight end, bubba franks; , running back, jesse chatman.


perhaps jets significant offseason acquisition veteran , former green bay packers quarterback, brett favre. favre, nfl s all-time leader in touchdown passes, completions, passing yards, interceptions, wins , consecutive starts quarterback, picked in trade during training camp. favre finished 2007 season second in mvp voting , named starter of afc pro bowl team.
