also in 1983 peugeot launched pininfarina-styled peugeot 205. while not radical uno in body design, aerodynamic. first european supermini diesel engine - xud. provided performance of 1.4 l petrol economy—55 miles per imperial gallon (5.1 l/100 km; 46 mpg‑us)—that better base 1 l petrol version. could, diesel engines, last several hundred thousand miles regular servicing. was, along larger (also xud powered) citroën bx, beginning of start of boom in diesel sales in europe. 205 gti popular golf gti in europe. 205 named car of decade in uk, car magazine in 1990.
