albani received gold medal of royal philharmonic society in 1897, known beethoven medal . madame selitsky, prima donna performs in lucy maud montgomery s anne of green gables (1908) inspired albani. montgomery later wrote profile of singer courageous women (1934), non-fiction work. in 1925, albani made dame commander of order of british empire.


the historic sites , monuments board of canada mounted plaque @ birthplace in 1939. replaced stele in 1977.


several streets , places have been named after in quebec. 2 streets in montreal have been named in honour. first, rue albani, dedicated in 1912. disappeared when road construction merged street. second, avenue albani, named 19 march 1969 city s council. in 1980 canada post commissioned postage stamp honoring on 50th anniversary of death. stamp designed artist huntley brown, portraying in costume violetta opera la traviata. colourised version of adjacent image.
