prior recent advances in technology, patient participation limited to shared decision making (sdm), form of participation occurred between patient , physician in clinical practice. changes in modern technology allow computers play increasingly important role in healthcare decision making. examples of artificial intelligence (ai) technology being used in healthcare include ibm s watson health, intended assist in diagnosis , treatment of difficult illnesses or disease. one of watson s objectives highlighting findings developed watson s computing skills , access everyday information , give concrete suggestions tailored expertise of physician, type of ailment, , needed level of care. physicians can use ailment specific programs such watson oncology app, aimed @ detection , treatment of tumors. artificial intelligence being used more in patient participatory healthcare.
