he born on 7 june 1838 son of rev john macleod of morvern, , wife margaret maclean. brother, john macleod became minister of govan.


he studied divinity @ glasgow university spent of liturgical life minister of st stephens church in inverness. in 1876 elected fellow of royal society of edinburgh. proposers david smith, andrew douglas maclagan, david stevenson , thomas stevenson.


he died on 11 december 1911. buried wife in dean cemetery in western edinburgh. grave lies on north path of original northern extension @ junction north-south path.
