esp-3 oru locations iss exp 38


esp-3 detached keel yoke assembly (which remained in orbiter) , installed on p3 truss @ uccas-1 on august 14, 2007 during space shuttle sts-118 mission. has 7 attachment sites iss spare parts , assemblies, called orbital replacement units (orus). platform has handrails , attachment points tethers , foot restraints astronauts can use while working orus on esp-3. esp-3, esp-2 deployable versions of integrated cargo carrier , have same dimensions, approximately 8.5 feet long , 14 feet wide. esp-3 has 2 grapple fixtures aid deployment.


esp-3 first major station element installed robotics, using shuttle , station’s robotic arms, external berthing camera system (bcs) , photovoltaic radiator grapple fixture (pvrgf). astronauts robotically installed platform onto station s p3 truss segment during sts-118 mission’s seventh day.


on january 12, 2010, station s robotic arm used again move esp-3 p3 truss segment uccas-1 site. grappled arm , transferred down station s backbone on mobile transporter. esp-3 attached new location on lower part of s3 truss segment @ pas-3 site. moving storage platform cleared way express logistics carrier-3 installed during sts-134.

fram-1 (top side) pitch/roll joint (p/r‐j) launched on esp-3
fram-2 (top side) flex hose rotary coupler (fhrc sn1004) added sts-126 crew
fram-3 (top side) empty (future home of failed pm sn0004 stored on mbs poa, expedition 38 crew dec. 2013.
fram-4 (top side) linear drive unit (ldu) added sts-127 crew
fram-5 (keel side) space-to-ground antenna (sgant) added sts-127 crew
fram-6 (keel side) battery charge/discharge unit (bcdu) launched on esp-3
fram-7 (keel side) ata flight support equipment (fse) added sts-118 crew.

notes:


fram 2 hosted nta tank (sn0005) launched on esp-3, swapped depleted nta (sn0002) s1 truss during sts-124. failed unit later returned on sts-126 when fhrc placed here.


fram-3 hosted pump module (pm) sn0006 added sts-127 crew. iss exp 38 crew swapped pm sn0006 failed pm sn0004 s1 truss during 2 evas dec. 21 , 24, 2013. leaving pm sn0004 on mbs oru poa later storage.


fram-4 hosted cmg & frame , both removed aug. 13, 2007 during sts-118. support frame placed on esp-2, cmg installed in z1. failed cmg placed on cmg frame on esp-2 fram-5 , later returned earth sts-124.
