the cleveland spiders dissolved after winning 20 games , losing 134 in 1899 season along louisville colonels, baltimore orioles, , washington senators, leaving national league 8 teams begin 1900 season. result, 1900 marked first year since 1886 during city of cleveland did not have team affiliated major league baseball.


1900: new franchise

ban johnson, president of western league, changed league s name american league in 1900, bringing aboard new team in cleveland, known cleveland lake shores, along new baltimore , washington franchises, created or without approval of national league. during time, cleveland had minor league baseball team, known bluebirds or blues due all-blue uniforms, finished season 63–73 record , finished sixth.


1901: major league once more

the american league became major league before 1901 season. american league made jump major league status, many players jumped ship, including cy young , nap lajoie, led national league call them outlaw league in november 1900. 1901 season came underway in april, , war between 2 leagues erupted, cleveland franchise, known blues, began first official season major league baseball team.
