at summit, volunteer guides man tower on weekends weather between late june , october every year. there guides available bring visitors cab of firetower on holiday weekends, including columbus day. cab equipped paper cutouts identifying mountains , other landmarks visible within 50-mile (80 km) area of tower on clear days. 360-degree panorama dominated peekamoose , table mountains, southernmost of catskill high peaks, , other features of slide mountain wilderness area north. southeast view takes in shawangunk ridge , hudson valley beyond. possible see river itself, new jersey s highest mountain, high point, when visibility @ maximum. southwest horizon in northeastern pennsylvania s poconos, southern extension of catskills. elk mountain, highest in pennsylvania outside of alleghenies, can seen.


the cabin open. used informal museum of fire protection in catskills, wall displays showing how accomplished , artifacts within cabin showing how observers lived. porch , picnic tables available use. since summit below 3,500 feet (1,067 m) in elevation, camping permitted year-round.
