born in 1898 in wuyi, zhejiang, tang enbo graduate of imperial japanese army academy, , therefore familiar tactics of japanese enemy during second sino-japanese war. tang s resistance japanese invasion ineffective, had nothing personal capabilities, more political situation in china— tang s superior chiang kai-shek reluctant devote best troops fight japanese invaders, wishing instead use them exterminate communists. limited in troops , materiel, commander have had great difficulties in fighting such superior enemy, , tang enbo no exception. furthermore, battle plans though successful on paper materialized on battlefield during stage because local chinese warlords interested in maintaining forces , largely ignored chiang kai-shek s orders. although tang did contribute victory @ battle of taierzhuang, unable stop japanese assaults during 1944 battle of henan-hunan-guangxi, losing 37 cities , towns within 36 days.

civil war

after world war ii, tang enbo participated in struggle against communists, attempted win tang enbo. tang hesitant @ first due military failure in chinese civil war, fourth concubine convinced him firmly follow chiang kai-shek , stay kuomintang. result, tang enbo informed chiang kai-shek teacher , superior chen yi had asked him turn communists , chen arrested , later executed. chen yi executed @ machangding, taipei, on june 18, 1950 , buried in wugu, taipei county.

the fallout of tang enbo had lost trust of chiang kai-shek. tang s position further weakened when other nationalist cadres such gu zhenggang (谷正纲) discovered , revealed chiang kai-shek during shanghai campaign tang preparing flee japan asking close associates wang wencheng (王文成) , long zuoliang (龙佐良) seek out home in japan.

on may 6, 1949, close friend of tang s wired half million dollars american friend s account, , subsequently, money sent via account wang wencheng , long zuoliang in japan. in july, 1949, wang wencheng , long zuoliang purchased mansion 22 rooms in tokyo suburb. however, of accidentally made public on february 2, 1950 when reuters issued news in tokyo claiming chiang kai-shek had purchased mansion in tokyo suburb via top ranking chinese official. rumored tang s political enemies within kuomintang had long been tracking tang s every move , waited right opportunity bring him down, such claim has yet confirmed. result tang s complete falling out of favor chiang, reportedly angrily shouted: no wonder our defeat rapid in shanghai , southeastern coast— (tang enbo) prepared flee!

after fleeing taiwan retreating republic of china government, tang enbo became ill , sent japan treatment. however, tang died after surgery in tokyo in 1954.
