the heavy rainfall flooded neighborhoods in area, damaging on 100 houses. storm left 1.4 million people without power in palm beach, broward, , miami-dade counties. in broward county north of katrina s first landfall, hurricane dropped light rainfall, ranging 2 4 in (51 102 mm). downed trees killed 3 people in county. train , bus service disrupted in miami area. property damage estimated @ $100 million. widespread flooding affected crop nurseries , greenhouses, , crop damage totaled $423 million. 3 people drowned in miami-dade county, 2 of whom on boats.
