biography
early life

kozlov born peasant family in small village of zagorodnie. in 1919, began working mechanic in nearby town of zhlobin. conscripted two-year mandatory service in red army in 1925, , joined all-union communist party in 1927. kozlov attended minsk university between 1929 , 1933. after graduation, served kolkhoz party organizer year. during 1934, kozlov appointed director of starobin machine , tractor station, located in salihorsk raion. in 1937, posted first secretary of communist party s regional branch in starobin. year afterwards, became party s first secretary in chervyen raion. in 1940, promoted deputy chairman of belorussian ssr s council of people s commissars. in april 1941, kozlov given office of second secretary in minsk voblast s communist party branch.


world war ii

minsk occupied invading germans on 26 june 1941. kozlov remained behind enemy s lines , appointed chief of voblast s underground communist party in july. tasked organizing resistance activities, , led minsk partisans until end of german occupation. mid-1942, commanded force consisted of 50,000 members. in september, traveled moscow report on situation in belarus. there, awarded title hero of soviet union on 1 september 1942. commander of 1 occupied republic s largest partisan detachments, given rank of major general on 16 september 1943. in july 1944, red army liberated minsk. kozlov remained chairman of minsk voblast s communist party regional committee, office held 4 further years.


post-war years

on 12 march 1947, kozlov elected chairman of belarus supreme soviet, functioning such until 17 march 1948. then, became chief of supreme belorussian soviet s presidium. continued serve in post until death. in addition, candidate member of communist party of ussr s central committee during 20th, 21st , 22nd convocations, 25 february 1956 29 march 1966. on 8 april 1966, shortly before death, accepted full member. kozlov buried in minsk s eastern cemetery.
