lange earned master s degree university of breslau , phd berlin institute of technology. worked @ peenemünde 1940 1945 on guidance , control aspects of v-2 ballistic missile , wasserfall surface-to-air missile. after world war ii, worked @ royal aircraft establishment (1947), emigrated in 1954, working briefly @ martin aircraft. in 1959, naturalized citizen , became head of saturn project office. retired in 1977.
