singer pulls 2 major sources influences: popular culture , elements of navajo culture. influences of comic books, record album covers, , science fiction combined pop art sensibility. cites visual appeal , stories of star wars , classic films , television programs such star trek, godzilla, flash gordon , black-and-white horror films.


he known detailed portraits of american indians , popular culture figures – ranging marilyn monroe wearing navajo blanket boba fett coyote.

singer s first completed painting @ age of 16; self-portrait him wearing batman t-shirt , head wrapped mummy. upon returning college offered 2 major opportunities: commission create illustrations book published salina bookshelf , museum exhibition.

in 2000 singer had vision: 10, 15 minutes before going sleep, dreaming eyes open...i see myself driving on side of cliff , saw sign. sketched out , went sleep. experience lead 1 of singer s well-known images wagon-burner; yellow road sign depicts covered wagon flames in of it, rolling down hill. pop art response wagon trains littered old american west traveled through navajo , other native american lands.


mutton stew

a tribute andy warhol, sheep food takes warhol s iconic campbell soup can screen print , combines navajo twist. campbell soup can turned can of mutton stew , instead of campbell gold seal, singer placed image of sheep being lassoed. image has become 1 of singer s popular, landing cover of phoenix new times in 2010. original housed @ heard museum.
