coquitlam has considerable number of open green spaces, total area of on 890 hectares (2,200 acres). there on 80 municipal parks , natural areas, mundy park located in centre of city being biggest, , ridge park located in highlands near city s northern edge. pinecone burke provincial park, minnekhada regional park, , pitt addington marsh on northern , eastern border of city, while restricted area of metro vancouver s coquitlam watershed border coquitlam north. colony farm 404-hectare park straddles coquitlam , port coquitlam boundaries, offering walking trails rich wildlife , gardens. town centre park large city park located in central area of city, provides city residents many recreational activities. como lake park , glen park popular local residents.


coquitlam not have beaches within city limits, tri-cities offers freshwater beaches in neighbouring anmore (buntzen lake, sasamat lake) , saltwater beaches in belcarra , port moody.


numerous yearly festivals staged @ various locations throughout coquitlam, including festival du bois (first full weekend in march), water s edge festival (third full weekend in march), como lake fishing derby (last sunday in may), bc highland games (last saturday in june), canada day celebration @ town centre park (july 1), , blue mountain music festival (mid-july).
