stm buses operated out of number of garages located around city. anjou, crémazie, frontenac, lasalle, legendre, mont-royal, stinson, st-denis, st-laurent , st-michel paratransit. surface routes divided several divisions. individual divisions have superintendent, on-duty mobile supervisor, communications centre, , garage facility tasked managing division s vehicle fleet , routes.

there 8,500 bus stops in stm network. each stop has panel indicates number of routes stops there, type of service, if bus goes metro or train station , bus stop code enabling 1 obtain schedule telephone @ 514-auto-bus. stm in process of changing bus stop panels new modern pole displays route numbers. route number color-coded type of service offers, dark blue regular routes, green express, metrobus , r-bus routes, black night routes , gold senior shuttles. advertising provided cbs. on november 8, 2010 stm launched 3 prototypes of modern bus shelters replace old ones. run on solar power system , lights in shelter controlled motion sensor. bus shelters @ high-traffic intersections feature interactive screen people can use hand gestures access weather, news , bus route information. since introduction of gps in fleet, screen can used track busses on route.
